お届けするのは、デオダ・ド・セヴラックの『休暇の日々から』第1集のフィナーレを飾る「ロマンチックなワルツ」です。

華やかなワルツに潜む、人生のサイクル

ホリデーシーズンを彩るにふさわしい、勢いのある華やかな三拍子。 しかし、この美しい旋律は、曲の中盤でふと予期せぬ「悲しみ」へと姿を変えます。エネルギーに満ちた歩みが止まり、内なる影と向き合う時間。それはまるで、私たちの人生に突然訪れる試練のようです。

しかし、その深い悲しみもやがては静かに癒え、再びワルツのステップへと歩き出します。

「別の次元」への到達と、永遠の掟

ここで最も美しいのは、再び戻ってきたワルツが、最初に聴こえたワルツとは「別の次元（ディメンション）」にいるということです。 人生の旅路と同じように、私たちは出発点に戻ってきたようでいて、その過程で経験した痛みや癒やしによって、確実に変容しています。

すべてが角を失い、まあるく繋がっていく。 永遠に循環していく掟の中で、このメロディーはまた新たな命を巡らせていくのです。歴史的なフォルテピアノが紡ぎ出す「命の循環」を、皆様の心の奥底で感じていただければ幸いです。

【The Eternal Cycle and a New Dimension: Séverac’s “Romantic Waltz” and the Circulation of Life】

 Hello everyone, this is Megumi Tanno. Today, without spoken words, I will paint a picture of life’s cycle using only the pure resonance of an 1825 fortepiano. I present to you the finale of Déodat de Séverac’s En Vacances (Holidays) Book 1: “Valse romantique” (Romantic Waltz).

The Cycle of Life Hidden Within a Glamorous Waltz

The piece begins with a vibrant, energetic 3/4 time signature, perfectly suited for the festive holiday season. However, midway through the piece, this beautiful melody unexpectedly transforms into profound sadness. The energetic steps halt, making way for a moment of confronting inner shadows—much like the sudden trials we face in our own lives.

Yet, eventually, that deep sorrow quietly heals, and the music steps forward once again into the rhythm of the waltz.

Reaching a “Different Dimension” and the Eternal Law

The most beautiful aspect of this piece is that when the waltz returns, it exists in an entirely “different dimension.” Just as in our life’s journey, we may seem to return to where we started, but the pain and healing we experienced along the way have irrevocably transformed us.

Everything loses its sharp edges, becoming whole and round. Within this eternal law of circulation, the melody breathes life anew. I hope you can feel this profound “circulation of life,” woven by the historical fortepiano, deep within your heart.
